Curryfest 2008 – HOTTER THAN EVER!
World’s Biggest Bhangra Bush Dance
Getting fit at Curryfest 2008 will be fun – especially for those who join in the world’s Biggest
Bhangra Bush Dance on Saturday night and help to create a new World
Record! Better than aerobics! More fun than Pilates! More social than an hour at the Gym!
Coming to the 2008 Woolgoolga Curryfest, Bhangra is simple to do and is the latest global fitness craze….
Bhangra is perhaps the most virile form of Indian Folk Dances. Springing from the land of five rivers, it abundantly reflects the vigor, the vitality, the level of exuberance, and the hilarity permeated among the rural folk by the promise of a bumper crop.
Bhangra celebrates the harvest and is associated with the festival of
Baisakhi (April 13) and is a dance of joy performed to the accompaniment of large drums called
dhols.
Internationally renown group “Sirocco” will be performing this energetic dance at the Woolgoolga Curryfest on Saturday 19th April culminating during the evening in an attempt to have what promises to be the
worlds Biggest Bhangra Bush Dance entered in the Guinness World Book of Records..!
Curryfest organisers, the Woolgoolga Chamber of Commerce Industry & Tourism is seeking participants to be part of the world record attempt. Who knows, this could be the new television dance show!
Organisers encourage anyone with an interest in food, Indian culture and dance to visit beautiful Woolgoolga (known as “the missing piece of Paradise”) for the Curryfest and to enjoy a wonderful day out and then wine, dine and dance into the evening (and the Guinness Book of Records) to the exotic sounds of
“Sirocco”.

2008 performers line up:
Kamahl (special guest appearance)
Kamahl is the name which, for over four decades, has identified the music and unique voice of a man who is one of the most sensational recording stars in Australian history.
His recording and concert career reached spectacular heights, including performances at the London Palladium and Carnegie Hall in New York. And so we see, the major ingredient for success in life is brilliantly exemplified by a human being who, appearing to have everything against him, always has two things going for him: courage and an absolute belief in himself. Without courage we never leave the trenches and without belief that we can defeat the enemy we never cut through the wire and lead the attack.
